WELCOME
Welcome to another exciting year at Montgomery Nursery School! School will open on Tuesday, September 9, for the Bunny and Turtle classes. Our Bear Classes will have staggered starts and Mrs. Thiery and Mrs. Schaefer will give you those dates at the in-school visit. The Puppy class will begin on Friday, September 12.
A special thanks to all the teachers, assistant teachers, and Mary Abbott, our administrative assistant, for all their hard work and the extra hours put in by everyone in order to get our 48th year underway!
GET-ACQUAINTED COFFEES
The coffees are a great way to get to know the other parents in your child’s class and to learn more about the school and the upcoming year. Please join us on the following designated dates and times. On Thursday, Sept. 18, all A.M. parents will meet in the chapel at 9:00. All P.M. parents will meet in the chapel at 12:30. On Friday, Sept. 19, all A.M. parents will meet in the chapel at 10:45. After a short meeting, you will get together with the parents from your child’s class and your room mother will have sign-up sheets for parties. Your younger children are welcome. Hope to see you there. The chapel is across from the Turtle Room.
FRIDAY FRIENDS
Sign-up for Friday Friends will begin at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 10 for the month of September. Sign-up for the Fridays in October will be on Wednesday, Sept. 24. We take 16 children each Friday and the program will be filled on a first come-first serve basis. From past experience, we recommend that your child be three and a half before starting Friday Friends. Your classroom teacher can help determine if they are ready for an all-day program.
SAFETY
We will continue the policy of entering and exiting through the doors by the church office. All other doors will be kept locked and we ask that you do not exit the doors by the Bear Room. Also, please remember not to leave younger siblings in the car while dropping off your preschooler. Thank you for your cooperation.
STAFF CHANGE
We are pleased to announce that Kristina Gardner will be the assistant teacher for our A.M. Bunny class. Kristina is new to our staff and has a degree in elementary education. Her son, Nolan attended MNS for two year and is now entering kindergarten. Some of our staff members are taking on additional responsibilities. Mrs. Perkins will be the assistant teacher in the P.M. Bunny class. Mrs.Thiery will replace Mrs. Perkins as the assistant teacher in the P.M. Bear class. Mrs. Schaefer will be the assistant teacher in the W/F Bear class and Mrs. Fienning will be the assistant teacher in our Friday Friends class.
COLORS
We will begin our color unit the week of Sept. 23. Please refer to the calendar and have your child dress in the “color of the day.” This is a fun unit for the children. Our three year old classes may follow a slightly different schedule. The teachers will inform you if that is the case.
A POLICEMAN COMES TO VISIT!
A policeman from the Montgomery Police Department will visit with our classrooms during safety week to talk with our children.
AEROBICS
We are so happy to have Miss Kelly back with us! We will begin aerobics classes for the Bunnies and Turtles on Tuesday, September 23. The children will be working on the upper body and talking about the following muscles: pectorals (chest), trapezius (neck) and deltoids (shoulders). PLEASE dress your child in loose fitting clothes and tennis shoes so they can join in the activities.
BIRTHDAYS
Again, we are asking that you do not send candy or party favors when you celebrate your child’s birthday. Please feel free to simply provide a special birthday snack, drink and paper goods. The teachers will make it a very special birthday for your child. If you would like to honor your child’s birthday by donating a book, puzzle or game to the school, this would be most welcome.
